Q : What is Order Follow Up
service, How can I benefit from it?
A : Order Follow Up service is a value-added service offered to our customers. When
customer has inbound shipment from overseas and give us the Purchase Order number of the
shipment, we will contact with supplier through oversea partners and follow up the order
status closely. We will keep informing customer about the order status until the shipment
is ready to ship. Then, we will advise customer the booking details of the shipment like
the volume, vessel name, ETD and ETA. The customer needs not to pay extra effort and will
be kept informed on order status.
Q : What is the difference
between inland charge and ocean freight?
A : Inland charge means the trucking charge arising in picking up the cargo from door of
supplier's factory and delivering to nearest receiving station. Ocean freight means the
freight cost covering the transit from overseas receiving station to HK port. Whether you
need to pay for the inland charge depends on your shipment terms with shipper.
Q : How is the ocean freight
calculated?
A : Basically ocean freight is calculated based on the cargo volume that is measured by
Cubic Meter (CBM). Usually the minimum charge is 1 CBM but it varies in different port of
loading. For overweight cargo, the charged will be calculated based on the weight.
Q : What if my cargo is
oversized?
A : If it is shipped by LCL, oversized surcharge will be levied on top of the standard
ocean freight for the special equipment employed to handle the shipment. It varies from
different port of loading. If it is shipped by FCL and the cargo can't be fitted into
standard container, you must arrange using Flat Rack, Open Top container etc.
Q : What if my cargo is DG goods?
A : DG goods are divided into different categories, other than DG surcharges on ocean
freight, CFS for DG cargoes is two times the basic CFS charge. And the free storage period
for DG goods is only 24 hours so you should arrange pick-up as soon as possible.
Q : How to handle dutiable goods
and licensing good?
A : For handling dutiable goods, such as cigarettes and alcoholic goods etc., you should
apply for permit from Customs and get the permit ready before the vessel arrival. For
licensing goods like garment, you should also apply for license from Trade Department and
present it to us before shipment arrival.
Q : I have suppliers located in
different states all over U.S.A., what is the best way to ship the cargoes?
A : We have extensive network in U.S.A. of 23 offices / receiving stations and offering
"Regional Consolidation" service for all shipments from the whole U.S.A. We have
five major consolidation centers, which are Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, New York and
Charleston. Your cargo will be forwarded to the nearest consolidation centers. We have
weekly consolidation boxes coming from these five stations.
Q : What is direct consolidation?
How can it benefit me?
A : Direct consolidation means that we handle and consolidate / de-consolidate the LCL
cargoes in our own CFS stations both locally and overseas. When comparing to co-loading
service, direct consolidation offers more direct handling, safely and efficiency to your
cargoes.
Q : What are local charges and
how long is the Free Storage Period?
A : Local charges for inbound and outbound shipments include, documentation, handling, CFS
for LCL cargoes, and THC for FCL cargoes. In general, we offer 3-day Free Storage Period,
however for DG goods, the Free Storage Period is only 24 hours.
Q : How can I obtain the updated
sailing schedule?
A : We will fax the updated sailing schedule regularly. You can obtain the sailing
schedule from our homepage, or call our Customer Services Department at (852) 2110-8984.
Q : How can I appoint Express
Border Group to handle my shipment?
A : Nomination procedure is very simple. The only thing that you have to do is to either
issue a nomination letter to your supplier to inform them about your nomination or state
our company name as freight forwarder in your purchase order. After receiving your routing
instruction, we will start contacting your shipper and follow up the order. For further
shipments, just inform us when you place new purchasing order.

Q : How is air freight
calculated?
A : Airfreight is calculated based on the weight of the shipment. We have to compare the
actual weight and volume weight while the greater one will be applied. The volume weight
is calculated as follows, X CBM / 6000 = Y kg, where X is the volume of the shipment in
CBM and Y is the volume weight of the shipment.
Q : How about the DG cargo
arrangement?
A : Not every kind of DG cargo is accepted by airlines. Please contact us at (852) 2766

Q : What is Heavy Lifting Charge?
A : For shipment with weight over 150kg per single pallet, a heavy lifting charge will be
applied.
Q : What is Attendance Fee?
A : It is the additional charge arising from customs inspection.
Q : How long is the Free Storage
Period for air shipments?
A : Generally the Free Storage Period is 48 hours for cargo to be picked up.
Q : How frequency is the flight
schedule?
A : It depends on the ports of loading and airlines used. General airlines offer 2-3
flights every week.
Q : How can I appoint Express
Border Group to handle my shipment?

Transportation / Trucking and Haulage
Q : What are zone 1, 2, 3, 4, and
5 in the haulage tariff?
A : Hong Kong is divided into 5 zones and the haulage tariff to these different zones
varies depending on the distance.
Q : Do you offer service of
vanning / devanning of container?
A : Yes. As extension to our ocean freight and container haulage service, we also offer
container vanning / devanning services to our customers.
Q : What can you help me if I
have to distribute my goods to different locations in Hong Kong?
A : Other than single drop-point delivery, we also offer multiple drop-point distribution
of cargoes. We will work with our customers and schedule a distribution planning to
distribute the goods to end-users. The objective of this is to distribute the goods
efficiently and cost effectively.
Q : What if I have to collect
goods from different locations before arranging outbound shipment?
A : In this case, our multiple receiving-point services can help you to pick up from
different locations and consolidate your goods before sending to terminal.
Q : How long is the free loading
/ unloading time for containers?
A : We allows 2 hours for 20'container and 3 hours for 40' container of free loading /
unloading time.
Q : What is the service coverage
for Hong Kong / China trucking / haulage?
A : We offer Hong Kong to / from Guangdong province cross-border haulage / trucking
transportation service.
Q : How long is free loading /
unloading time for container at China factories?
A : We allows 2 hours for 20' container and 3 hours for 40'container of free loading /
unloading time.
Warehousing
Q : What warehouse management
system do you use in your warehouse?
A : We have been employing ISIS, GII, an Australian developed warehouse management system
in our common logistics warehouse since 1996. Features of ISIS GII include stock
allocation, stock movement, inventory management etc.
Q : What is your warehouse space
capacity?
A : We are operating 120,000 square feet of warehousing space in Hong Kong with ceiling
height of 15ft, which is suitable for most general goods storage.
Q : How is the storage charge
calculated?
A : Basically we have two different charging methods for our storage service. The first
one is the Common Storage that the charge will depend on the inventory volume. We charge
storage fee on bi-weekly or monthly basis. Another method is Fixed Storage that the
customer requests for exclusive use of a fixed area, the charge will be on a fixed monthly
amount. In addition, Movement In / Out and Handling Charges will be applied for both
methods.
Q : How to release cargo?
A : Upon receiving our customer's instruction of release cargo via fax or email, we will
arrange the cargo release.
Q : Do you have racking system
installed in your warehouse?
A : Generally we do not provide racking system storage service, but it can be discussed
for case to case to meet customers' requirements.
Q : Which types of cargo are best
suitable to store in your warehouse?
A : Our warehouse is located at class 1 warehouse building and most general goods are
welcome. However, DG cargo is not acceptable to be stored in our warehouse.
Q : What is the stowage system in
your warehouse?
A : The stowage method in our warehouse is pallet stacking. However, other stowage systems
can be worked out for fulfilling customer's requirement.
Q : Is there any other
value-added service offered by your warehouse?
A : Yes. We also offer value-added services like repackaging, re-labeling, pick and pack,
cleaning and grading, etc. These services are offered based on different customers'
requirements.
Q : How about the data
interchange with clients for inventory information?
A : We send customers warehouse management reports like inventory report, cargo movement
in/out report, stock aging reports on regular basis via email or fax according to
customers' requirements. However, we also work out tailor-made reports to customers,
depending on their specific requirements.

Q : What is your service coverage
and network in China?
A : We have six direct offices in China, located in Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Qingdao,
Xiamen and Guangzhou. Besides, we have totally sixteen serving points in China offering
transportation and logistics services to customers. We divided China by three sections.
For Northern China, Beijing office is the regional controlling office. Shanghai office is
the controlling office for Central and Eastern region of China. Hong Kong is the control
office for Southern region of China.

Q : I have high-valued cargo to
ship. How to make a better protection to my cargo in transit?
A : At first, you should contact with shippers for better outer packaging. Besides, it is
also a good idea to have insurance coverage. We offer insurance services with very simple
application procedure and attractive rates.
Q : What is the meaning of
different shipment terms? How will I be affected under different shipment terms?
A : Different shipment terms confine the responsibility of shipper and consignee. If the
shipment terms are C&F or CIF, shipper will be responsible for the freight costs and
usually it also implies that the shippers will nominate their forwarders. And FOB means
that the shipper will have the responsibility to arrange the inland truck to deliver the
goods to specific location, usually seaports or receiving stations. And Ex-work or
Ex-factory means that shipper will not be responsible for any transportation arrangement.
For later two terms, the consignee will appoint the forwarders.
Q : What is Bill of lading,
Shipping Order?
A : Bill of Lading is the certificate of the ownership of shipment. When shipper send the
cargo to freight forwarder, the forwarder will issue shipper a set of Bill of Lading to
acknowledge the receipt of the cargo and the one who hold the Bill of Lading have the
right on the cargo. Shipper will usually send the Bill of Lading to consignee so that the
consignee can obtain the cargo at the destination port. Shipping Order is the instruction
from shippers to forwarders for shipment booking. Shipper submits the relevant information
like details and descriptions of the cargoes to be shipped in the Shipping Order and send
to forwarder and the forwarder will arrange a booking according to the information
submitted.
Q : What should I do if my cargo
was damaged?
A : You should not collect the cargo at CFS when it was reported damaged and you should
arrange a survey to investigate the case. We can also assist in arrange survey on your
behalf. You should also contact your insurance company for claims.
Q : What is the difference
between All-Water service and MLB service?
A : Mini-Land Bridge (MLB) Service means using railing in addition to ocean freight
service to deliver the cargo to a destination. While All-Water service means using solely
ocean freight to deliver the cargo to a destination. Generally MLB is a faster service and
it costs more than All-Water service.
Q : What is BAF / FAF?
A : Bunker Adjustment Factor (BAF) or Fuel Adjustment Factor (FAF) is a surcharge
reflecting the fluctuation in fuel cost. The cost will normally be charged for ocean and
air freight arrangement.
